The State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection (SKLGP) is located in Chengdu, Sichuan province, southwestern China. SKLGP is initiated from a professional laboratory founded by the China Ministry of Education; in 2007, it was upgraded to a State Key Laboratory by the China Ministry of Science and Technology. As the only state key laboratory in the field of engineering geology in China, SKLGP focuses on providing theoretical, technological, and educational support in terms of reducing the social impact of geo-hazards in China, particularly in southwestern part. The main research of SKLGP ranges from geo-hazard assessment and prevention, slope instability and landslide mitigation, regional geo-environmental evaluation and protection, as well as development/application of geo-information systems.
